GEAR, is a
sophisticated IT-based software tool, which eases the process of
applying EOTIP.
EOTIP, the European Open Telecommunications Systems
Interconnection Profile can be applied by any organisation to analyse
and describe their telecommunications needs and procure the necessary
telephone equipment and services.
The methodology describes the telecommunication features in a neutral
way referring relevant standards where they exist.
GEAR will give a full range overview of the services to be selected,
along with the related standards. All the necessary data will be stored
in a dynamic information repository, providing the user with
flexibility in searching and selecting the appropriate data, provided
through hyperlink capabilities, throughout the whole EOTIP. This
dynamic database structure will allow to easily enhance the
methodology, either by restructuring and re-linking the data according
to selected criteria, or by adding new modules in the procedure,
without causing an overhead to the application user.
The
NTUA is participating in this project and NMT Group's contribution is
the development of the user interface (www pages) and the database
design and the liaison activities.
